Sapiom has raised $35 million in Series A funding to expand its infrastructure platform for deploying, operating and scaling artificial intelligence agents.
Dragonfly led the round, with participation from Accel, Gradient, Coinbase Ventures, Operator Collective, Formus Capital and VanEck Ventures. Existing investors Okta Ventures, Menlo Ventures, Anthropic and Array Ventures also participated.
The financing follows Sapiom’s $15 million seed round completed six months earlier and brings the company’s total funding to $50 million less than a year after its founding.
Sapiom is focused on the operational gap between building an AI agent demonstration and running that agent continuously in a reliable, controlled and economically sustainable production environment.
The company’s platform makes real-time infrastructure decisions for each action an agent performs. It evaluates available models, computing resources, tools and services based on cost, quality, latency, reliability, task requirements and company policy.
Budgets and permissions are enforced before an action executes, while each transaction is metered and recorded in an audit trail.
Sapiom also launched three products alongside the financing: Sapiom Router, Sapiom Agent Studio and Sapiom Runtime.
Router directs each model call to an appropriate model rather than automatically using the most expensive option. Agent Studio provides an environment for engineering teams to build, test, inspect and deploy agents using the context of their existing codebases.
Runtime supplies the managed production infrastructure needed for access controls, routing, recovery, step-level visibility and large-scale execution.
Since launching six months ago, Sapiom has processed more than 270 million transactions and supports over 100,000 agent runs per day. One customer reduced inference costs by 75% after moving its agents to the platform.
Haseeb Qureshi, Managing Partner at Dragonfly, will join Sapiom’s board of directors as part of the financing.
KEY QUOTES:
“Teams can build remarkable agent demos in days, but getting those agents into production economically, reliably and with control is still brutally hard.”
“We are starting with cost because it is where the economics break first, but our ambition is much larger: to remove whatever stands between builders and the next trillion agents.”
Ilan Zerbib, Founder and CEO of Sapiom
“Agents are becoming employees with no manager and no budget, and increasingly, the CTO is the one acting as CFO, allocating real money with no visibility into where it goes.”
Haseeb Qureshi, Managing Partner at Dragonfly
