SBB Research Group Foundation: Grants Awarded To Illinois Nonprofits Supporting Disability And Community Programs

By Amit Chowdhry ● Mar 30, 2026

The SBB Research Group Foundation has awarded additional grants to three Illinois-based nonprofits, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to organizations addressing critical community needs.

The funding was extended to prior grant recipients, including Center for Independent Futures, Peer Plus Education and Training Advocates, and Will’s Place, each of which has demonstrated measurable impact through earlier support.

Center for Independent Futures, based in Evanston, partners with individuals with disabilities to promote independent living through coaching, housing assistance, and inclusive community engagement. Its initial grant supported COVID-related relief efforts and enabled both virtual and in-person programming for students and alumni of Evanston Township High School’s Transition House, helping reduce isolation and maintain structure during a critical period.

Peer Plus Education and Training Advocates, headquartered in Chicago, delivers culturally responsive programming across the Midwest, addressing health, education, and psychosocial challenges. With prior funding from the foundation, the organization expanded its education and training initiatives, continuing to improve access to essential community resources.

Will’s Place, a nonprofit café in Skokie, focuses on providing employment and job training for adults with disabilities. Earlier funding helped cover operating expenses, allowing the organization to employ and train 25 young adults while continuing to grow its mission-driven operations.

The foundation, which operates as the philanthropic arm of SBB Research Group LLC, provides monthly grants to nonprofit organizations tackling unmet needs with long-term, scalable solutions. It also sponsors a STEM scholarship program supporting students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
