Scale, a vertically integrated provider of advanced on-site energy solutions, announced it has acquired Reload, a platform focused on siting, designing, and permitting gigawatt-scale data center campuses paired with rapidly deployable on-site power infrastructure.
The deal strengthens Scale’s expanding data center business by adding Reload’s powered land development capabilities, grid-scale energy expertise, and a pipeline of data center campuses designed to provide reliable, large-scale power with reduced deployment timelines.
The acquisition follows recent milestones for Scale, including a contract to deliver a multi-hundred-megawatt on-site energy system for a hyperscale customer. The project positions Scale among a limited group of companies actively building on-site energy systems to power off-grid data centers. With backing from its equity partner, EQT, Scale plans to deploy multi-gigawatts of generation capacity to serve increasing demand from hyperscalers and data center operators.
Scale’s broader portfolio includes hundreds of operating and in-development energy projects serving commercial, industrial, and data center customers. Its data center team is focused on delivering gigawatts of energy centers in the coming years, addressing persistent delays associated with traditional utility interconnection processes.
Scale is backed by EQT, a global investment organization with significant holdings across digital and energy infrastructure. Through its capital base and operational expertise, EQT supports the development, ownership, and operation of gigawatts of on-site energy assets. Scale is part of EQT’s portfolio of power, fiber, and data center development companies aimed at supporting next-generation AI workloads with integrated digital and energy infrastructure.
Support: EQT was represented by Weil, Gotshal & Manges, while Scale was represented by Womble Bond Dickinson. Reload was advised by Expedition Infrastructure Partners and represented by Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.
