Schneider Electric has introduced an upgraded version of its Charge Pro Level 2 commercial electric vehicle charger in the United States, adding software, connector and deployment capabilities designed for property owners, workplaces and fleet operators.
Charge Pro is intended for commercial locations where vehicles typically remain parked long enough to use Level 2 charging. Target applications include apartment and condominium buildings, workplaces, fleet facilities, hotels, retail centers and public charging destinations.
The system combines Schneider Electric’s charging hardware with EV Connect Software+, a cloud-based charging station management platform. The integrated approach is designed to reduce the complexity of deploying and operating chargers across one or multiple sites.
Site owners can use the software to remotely monitor station performance, manage driver access, track charging activity and generate revenue from charging services.
One year of EV Connect Software+ is included when the charger is activated. Schneider Electric is also providing proactive monitoring and driver support services intended to improve reliability and reduce the operational burden on site hosts.
The company said the combination of hardware, software and services can help lower the total cost of ownership by reducing maintenance requirements and increasing charger availability.
Charge Pro includes a five-year hardware warranty, which is intended to provide additional protection for property owners and operators making long-term investments in charging infrastructure.
Schneider Electric has also simplified the commissioning process to help installers configure the equipment and bring charging sites online more quickly.
Drivers do not need to download an application or create an account to begin a charging session. They can scan a QR code at the charger and follow the payment or access process through a web-based interface.
The upgraded product supports both the J1772 connector and the North American Charging Standard. NACS has been adopted by a growing number of automakers and charging providers, while J1772 remains widely used by existing electric vehicles.
Charge Pro is available in configurations supporting charging currents of up to 80 amps, enabling customers to select equipment based on vehicle requirements, electrical capacity and expected charging demand.
Schneider Electric said the system was developed using the company’s cybersecurity practices to help protect charging operations and the data generated by the stations.
The product is designed to integrate with Schneider Electric’s broader electrical infrastructure portfolio, including panelboards, switchgear and circuit protection equipment.
This integration is particularly important as property owners install larger numbers of chargers. EV charging can create significant additional electricity demand, potentially requiring sites to balance loads, upgrade electrical infrastructure or coordinate charging schedules.
Connecting the charging system with a building’s broader electrical infrastructure can help operators manage demand and use available power more efficiently.
For fleets, the technology could support charging schedules based on vehicle availability, routes and energy demand. Multifamily property owners can use access controls and usage tracking to manage charging among residents, visitors and employees.
Workplaces and destination locations can offer charging as an employee, customer or tenant amenity while maintaining control over pricing and station access.
Schneider Electric is working with certified installation partners, including Qmerit, to provide a coordinated approach to charger deployment and electrical installation.
The company said customers can use its distribution partners, installers and EV infrastructure integrators to purchase and deploy Charge Pro across the U.S.
