SCIP transforms the way enterprises manage their supply chains by consolidating, validating, and augmenting data into a single source of truth. Pulse 2.0 interviewed SCIP co-founder and CEO Andy Kohm to gain a deeper understanding of the company.
Andy Kohm’s Background
Could you tell me more about your background? Kohm said:
“I started my career as an R&D engineer in the medical device industry, where I was focused on launching new products. Even then, it was clear that outcomes were driven by data, not just design. Whether it was managing part specs, supplier constraints, or quality data, every successful launch came down to how well you understood and acted on the information buried within teams and systems.”
“Since then, I’ve spent my career at the intersection of data, operations, and technology. I’ve worked in both startups and large enterprises, always drawn to the tough, unglamorous problems that sit at the heart of how businesses truly operate. Over time, I found myself increasingly focused on the supply chain. Not the buzzword-heavy version, but the reality: messy data, siloed systems, and constant firefighting. That’s where the idea for SCIP took root. We set out to fix the foundation and build something that could finally make supply chain data usable, reliable, and powerful.”
Formation Of The Company
How did the idea for SCIP come together? Kohm shared:
“The frustration started early. Back when I was working in R&D, just getting a clear answer about a part, like who made it, whether it was approved, and how long it would take to get, felt like detective work. The answers were out there, but scattered across clunky systems, buried in bloated spreadsheets, or tucked away in someone’s inbox who happened to be on vacation.”
“As I moved into roles with broader operational scope, I realized this wasn’t just a one-off problem. It was everywhere. Teams were making million-dollar decisions based on stale or conflicting data. Different departments were running in parallel, but never in sync. And no matter how many dashboards or BI tools companies bought, the underlying issue remained: the data couldn’t be trusted.”
“That was the spark. SCIP wasn’t designed to be another interface or reporting layer. It was built to get to the root of the problem. To clean, align, and enhance supply chain data so companies could finally make decisions based on truth, not guesswork.”
Favorite Memory
What has been your favorite memory since starting SCIP? Kohm reflected:
“Rolling out with our first customer was a defining moment. They were in the middle of a supply crunch, facing shortages on critical parts.”
“We stepped in, cleaned up their data, and used our platform to surface when stock was available from vendors. They secured what they needed at standard pricing instead of inflated grey market rates. The outcome: millions in avoided costs.”
“It wasn’t a flashy feature, but it had a real-world impact. It also confirmed what we believed from the start: if you have complete and trustworthy data, you can move faster, act earlier, and avoid the kind of operational chaos that’s become far too common.”
Core Products
What are SCIP’s core products, and what problems do they solve for your customers? Kohm explained:
“SCIP is a Supply Chain Intelligence platform with four core modules:
- Control Tower: A unified interface that democratizes access to real-time insights. Every stakeholder gets visibility and can act quickly.
- Data Management & Integrity: Cleans, validates, and augments supply chain data across systems. This is foundational. Bad data breaks everything.
- Supply Chain Optimization: Identifies critical parts, sourcing risks, and cost-saving opportunities. It automates bidding, finds alternatives, and helps you optimize for cost, lead time, and risk.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Automates sanctions screening, part-level risk scoring, and vendor compliance tracking.
Together, these modules turn fragmented supply chain data into an engine for better decisions.”
Market Gap
What market gap is SCIP filling that others have overlooked? Kohm emphasized:
“Most tools in this space assume the data is good. They build fancy dashboards or predictive models on top of a shaky foundation. But supply chain data isn’t good. It’s inconsistent, incomplete, and constantly changing. That’s the gap we saw that nobody was solving. SCIP starts by cleaning and validating the data itself, then adds the intelligence on top. It’s not as flashy, but it’s the foundation needed to make smart decisions.”
Biggest Challenges
What are some of the biggest challenges SCIP has faced in the supply chain tech space, and how have you tackled them? Kohm acknowledged:
“Integration is always the hurdle. Every company has its own tech stack, from different ERPs and PLMs to procurement tools and homegrown systems. That’s where most supply chain platforms hit a wall.”
“We approached it differently. SCIP is system-agnostic by design. Whether the data comes from flat files, APIs, or a data warehouse, we built our ingestion engine to handle it all. But what really sets us apart is how we clean and structure the data on the way in.”
“While most supply chain software gets bogged down in one-off integrations or customer-specific configurations, we’ve built around a fixed core schema that works out of the box. We have created AI agents that handle the mess, and the product stays clean. That’s how we deliver speed without sacrificing depth, and why onboarding doesn’t turn into a multi-quarter consulting project.”
Evolution Of The Company’s Technology
How has SCIP’s technology evolved since launching? Kohm noted:
“We started with a narrow focus: consolidate data, clean it up, and make it visible. What’s now our Control Tower module was originally designed to give teams a reliable, real-time view of their supply chain. A single source of truth accessible to everyone.”
“But once we had all that data in one place, aligned and structured, the opportunity expanded quickly. Visibility was just the beginning. From there, we built AI agents to automate data cleanup and augmentation, added optimization engines to surface cost and risk tradeoffs, and layered on compliance tools to monitor sanctions, supplier risk, and part-level exposure.”
“What began as a data viewer has become a full platform.”
Significant Milestones
What have been some of the company’s most significant milestones? Kohm cited:
“Reaching $1 million in ARR without a sales team and with just the founding team building the product was a major milestone. We weren’t doing splashy marketing or outbound campaigns. Customers came because the product solved a real problem, and once they were in, they stayed and expanded.”
“We built an enterprise-grade platform that handles complex supply chain challenges but feels intuitive enough to use without training. That balance is rare in this space.”
“Another big moment was validating over 30x ROI at one of our largest customers, based on just one module. That did not include optimization or sourcing gains. Just time saved and software costs avoided. It was proof that our approach could drive real results, fast.”
Customer Story
Can you share a customer story that highlights the impact SCIP has delivered? Kohm highlighted:
“One of our electronics customers was struggling with recurring part shortages and inflated costs. We implemented our platform, and within days, they had real-time visibility into inventory availability. The result was no line stoppages, lower part costs, and fewer manual hours wasted chasing suppliers. It added up to a seven-figure impact that was measurable, immediate, and scalable.”
Misconception
What’s one misconception about supply chain tech you’d like to clear up? Kohm observed:
“That AI can magically fix everything. AI only works if your data is clean, consistent, and complete. But most supply chain data is not. That’s why SCIP focuses so heavily on data quality first. Get that right, and you unlock the power of AI. Skip that step, and you’re just automating chaos.”
Funding/Revenue
Are you able to discuss funding and/or revenue metrics? Kohm revealed:
“We’ve raised $900k to date. SCIP has passed $1 million in ARR and is on track to double that over the next six to eight months. We’re seeing strong expansion within existing customers and expect to raise a growth round later this year to scale sales and product.”
Total Addressable Market
What total addressable market (TAM) is the company pursuing? Kohm assessed:
“Our initial focus is a $5 billion slice of the market, focused on electronics OEMs and contract manufacturers. But the broader TAM is closer to $30 billion when you factor in verticals like automotive, aerospace, and industrials, along with adjacent product lines like PLM, compliance, and vendor management.”
Future Company Goals
What are some of the company’s future goals? Kohm replied:
“We plan to expand into new industries with minimal product tweaks thanks to our modular architecture. We’ll also roll out our full AI agent roadmap. And, more broadly, we plan to become the leading system for the emerging supply chain intelligence software vertical.”
Additional Thoughts
Any other topics you’d like to discuss? Kohm concluded:
“Everyone’s talking about tariffs, trade restrictions, and geopolitical uncertainty right now, and for good reason. It’s top of mind for every global supply chain leader. But this isn’t a temporary wave. Disruption is the new baseline.”
“What’s needed isn’t just better forecasting, it’s adaptability and resilience. Companies need supply chains that can flex in real time. That requires better data, smarter tools, and a foundation you can trust under pressure.”
“At SCIP, that’s our focus. We help companies get the fundamentals right so they can respond fast, adjust intelligently, and keep moving.”
