Scout Space announced it raised up to $18 million in Series A financing to accelerate deployment of its space domain awareness sensors and software platform and expand manufacturing operations in Northern Virginia. The financing round was led by Washington Harbour Partners and included participation from Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation, Noblis Ventures, Decisive Point, Fusion Fund, and existing investors.
The company said the funding will support mission execution initiatives, sensor deployment, software development, and construction of a new 2,600-square-foot production facility in Northern Virginia.
Scout Space develops space domain awareness technologies designed to provide real-time monitoring and operational intelligence for spacecraft and orbital infrastructure. Its platform-agnostic systems combine optical payloads, edge processing, and autonomous software to detect, track, and characterize objects in orbit.
According to the company, its architecture is designed to integrate with a broad range of spacecraft and mission platforms rather than relying on vertically integrated hardware systems. Scout said this modular approach allows its sensing and software technologies to support commercial and national security missions across different orbital environments.
Scout also highlighted ongoing contract and mission momentum, including collaboration with Blue Origin to integrate its Owl sensor onto the inaugural Blue Ring mission, a multi-mission spacecraft platform designed for payload hosting and on-orbit services.
The company additionally said it continues to expand work with the U.S. Space Force through multiple Tactical Funding Increase awards supporting development of GEO-based sensing systems and operational intelligence data platforms for object identification and orbital tracking.
Founded in 2019, Scout Space focuses on improving space safety, transparency, and operational awareness through distributed in-space sensor networks.
KEY QUOTES:
“At Scout Space, we understand that a widely proliferated network of in-space sensors is fundamental to understanding and operating safely in orbit. With this investment, we’re expanding our ability to deliver at speed for our customers—while deepening our presence in Northern Virginia, where proximity to mission partners and decision-makers is unmatched.”
Josiah Gruber, CEO, Scout Space
“Space is becoming more dynamic, contested, and critical to national security. Scout is building the sensing layer needed to understand and operate in that environment. Their platform-agnostic approach allows them to integrate across missions and architectures—positioning them as a critical supplier in the next generation of space infrastructure.”
