Section Partners: $189 Million Raised Across Two New Funds

By Amit Chowdhry • Nov 6, 2025

Section Partners announced the final close of two new investment vehicles, totaling $189 million, which strengthens the firm’s ability to provide structured personal financing solutions to founders and shareholders, as well as growth capital to late-stage, venture-backed technology companies. The Palo Alto-based firm noted that the capital was raised through Section Capital V, LP and Section Ventures II, LP, alongside a parallel co-investment vehicle, reflecting continued backing from existing limited partners and interest from new institutional investors.

The firm, which was founded in 2014, focuses on supporting stockholders of late-stage private technology companies by offering tailored financing solutions, purchasing secondary shares, and participating in primary capital rounds. The funds will allow Section Partners to continue providing liquidity to founders, executives, and early employees, while enabling portfolio companies to raise new growth capital ahead of potential public offerings or strategic exits.

Section Capital V, LP, and its associated co-investment vehicle focus on structured transactions with individual shareholders, while also making direct equity investments in primary and secondary transactions. Section Ventures II, LP serves as a dedicated co-investment fund to support these equity opportunities.

Sinceits  inception, Section Partners has completed transactions with shareholders of more than 80 venture-backed companies. More than 30 of these companies have reached liquidity events, including Airbnb, CrowdStrike, DocuSign, Figure Technologies, GitHub, Heartflow, Klarna, MongoDB, OneMedical, Palantir, Pinterest, Uber, and Upwork.

The firm is led by Managing Partner and Founder Dave Crowder and Managing Partner Solomon Lee. Crowder brings more than three decades of experience in Silicon Valley venture capital and investment banking, while Lee joined in 2024 from Morgan Stanley’s Technology Investment Banking group, where he advised leading enterprise software companies. The firm expanded its investment team further over the past year with three additional investment professionals, strengthening sourcing and execution capabilities as deal flow accelerates.

Section Partners currently manages over $575 million in committed capital across its strategies, with a focus on generating attractive, risk-adjusted returns through structured private credit and direct equity investments.
