Sembcorp Industries announced the completion of its acquisition of Alinta Energy, adding a major Australian energy platform with a 3.4-gigawatt operating portfolio and a 10.4-gigawatt development pipeline.
The transaction was completed through Sembcorp’s indirect wholly owned subsidiaries, Sembcorp Energy Australia Pty Ltd and Sembcorp Energy Australia Pte Ltd, which acquired shares in Pioneer Sail Holdings Pty Ltd and Latrobe Valley Power (Holdings) Pty Ltd. The closing completes the deal that was originally announced on December 11, 2025, under which Sembcorp agreed to acquire 100% of Alinta Energy from Chow Tai Fook Enterprises Limited, which had owned the company since 2017.
With the acquisition complete, Sembcorp said it plans to integrate Alinta’s scalable Australian platform with its own global capabilities in energy solutions. The company views Australia as a key market for future growth and an important region in supporting the transition to cleaner energy sources.
Alinta will continue operating under its existing brand and organizational structure, maintaining continuity for its more than 1,000 employees and approximately 1.1 million customers and partners throughout Australia. Sembcorp also confirmed that Alinta’s leadership team, headed by Managing Director and CEO Jeff Dimery, will remain in place.
The acquisition provides Sembcorp with an expanded presence in Australia and strengthens its portfolio of energy assets and development opportunities. The company believes the transaction positions it to support long-term growth while helping to deliver reliable energy and contribute to Australia’s energy transition.
Sembcorp said the combination of Alinta’s established operations and development pipeline with its own financial resources and expertise in renewable energy creates opportunities to accelerate investments needed to support a more sustainable energy future.
