Serent Capital (a growth-focused private equity firm that invests in founder-led B2B SaaS and technology companies) announced the promotions of John Caselli and Dexter Hopen to Partner, expanding the partnership to six members.
Since joining Serent as associates in 2013, Caselli and Hopen have been instrumental to its success. Through their adept mentorship and deep investment expertise, they have played pivotal roles in shaping Serent’s trajectory by contributing to over 30 investments within the Healthcare, Education, Hospitality, Franchise, and Automotive markets.
Caselli has demonstrated leadership in his investing activities and in his role in building the firm. In investing, Caselli has led investments across a number of sectors and has made his biggest mark in the healthcare sector, where he played an instrumental role in helping build Serent’s practice. He has played essential roles in helping the firm grow and develop, at different points leading associate recruiting, debt capital markets, and the sourcing function. Plus, he is also widely seen as a mentor within the firm.
Hopen has similarly made an impact on Serent’s investment track record and on the development of the firm. On investing, Hopen has helped build and co-lead several practices, including Education Technology, Automotive Technology, and Hospitality Technology. He has contributed significantly to the firm development with his leadership of the investing execution best practices and associate mentorship program. Through his efforts, he’s developed strong followership within the firm.
Serent Capital invests from $20 million to $200 million in B2B software companies with a strong product-market fit, annual recurring revenues of $5 million to $50 million, annual growth from 20-100%, and EBITDA margins from 0-50%. The transaction types include buyouts, recapitalizations, and growth capital.
