Serif Health: SEVA Takes Significant Minority Stake As Pricing Platform Serves 250+ Organizations

Serif Health has received a significant minority growth investment from SEVA Growth, giving the healthcare price transparency data company its first outside institutional capital as it expands its sales organization, product capabilities and data APIs.

The investment was made through SEVA I LP and will support Serif’s efforts to expand its customer footprint while accelerating development of new functionality across its healthcare pricing intelligence platform.

As part of the transaction, SEVA founder and managing partner Shalin Mehta will join Serif Health’s board of directors.

Founded in 2020, Serif provides healthcare price transparency data and intelligence for providers, payers, employers and third-party administrators.

The company built its platform around federal healthcare price transparency requirements that began taking effect in 2021, requiring hospitals and health insurers to disclose negotiated rates for healthcare services.

While those requirements created enormous amounts of public pricing information, the underlying files can contain inconsistent formats, errors and other data-quality challenges that make the information difficult for organizations to use directly.

Serif’s Signal platform is designed to clean, validate, standardize and organize those records into usable healthcare pricing intelligence.

Each month, Serif processes information from hundreds of payers, thousands of hospitals and billions of rate records.

The company said it cleans, validates and enhances hundreds of billions of healthcare reimbursement data points each month across its broader platform.

More than 250 organizations have used Serif data over the past three years to benchmark reimbursement rates, evaluate provider networks and analyze healthcare market dynamics.

The platform gives customers access to individual rates, network intelligence, and market-level pricing information without requiring them to build their own infrastructure to process massive transparency datasets.

Serif expanded its product portfolio earlier this year by launching Signal Ask.

Signal Ask is an AI application that lets users query Serif’s healthcare pricing data using natural language rather than requiring them to understand billing codes, underlying data structures or the specific dataset containing the requested information.

The product represents the first stage of Serif’s broader artificial intelligence roadmap and is designed to make its healthcare pricing intelligence more accessible across enterprise organizations.

Serif plans to use the SEVA investment to continue building those capabilities while expanding its sales and growth initiatives.

For SEVA, the deal adds another founder-led technology and data company to a portfolio that has included Chicory, Teleskope Technologies, TitanFile and Pronto.

SEVA focuses on growth investments in founder-led internet, software, data, marketplace and technology-enabled services businesses.
