SharonAI Holdings announced the appointment of Andrew Penn as Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors. The company said the appointment comes as Sharon AI enters its next phase of growth as a provider of AI cloud and high-performance computing infrastructure.
Sharon AI describes itself as a leading Australian neocloud company focused on artificial intelligence and cloud GPU/CPU compute infrastructure. The company said its AI cloud platform and compute infrastructure are designed to support the development of AI factories and sovereign AI solutions.
Penn is a business and technology executive with experience across financial services, telecommunications, digital infrastructure, and technology sectors. He currently serves as a Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee at Coles Group, Chair of Visit Victoria, and Senior Adviser at McKinsey & Company.
Previously, Penn served as CEO of Telstra from 2015 to 2022 and CEO of AXA Asia Pacific Holdings from 2006 to 2011. He also chaired the Expert Advisory Boards for Australia’s 2020 and 2023 National Cyber Security Strategies.
In 2023, Penn was named an Officer of the Order of Australia for his contributions to business, charitable organizations, youth, and the arts.
