Sharon AI Holdings has appointed Melissa Anastasiou as Chief Legal Officer as the Australian neocloud company expands its AI Cloud platform and sovereign artificial intelligence infrastructure.
Anastasiou will lead Sharon AI’s legal, corporate governance and compliance functions. Her responsibilities will include regulatory oversight, responsible AI practices and enterprise risk management as the company scales its computing infrastructure and customer relationships.
The appointment is intended to strengthen the governance and operational capabilities supporting Sharon AI’s long-term growth strategy.
Anastasiou brings more than two decades of experience across law, finance, governance and technology.
She joins Sharon AI after spending more than 16 years at telecommunications company Spark New Zealand, where she most recently served as Executive Group General Counsel and Commercial Director.
At Spark, Anastasiou advised the board and executive leadership team on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, regulation, privacy, cybersecurity and digital transformation.
She also chaired the company’s AI and Data Ethics Committee, where she led the development of governance frameworks for responsible AI and data use.
That experience is expected to support Sharon AI as it builds infrastructure used to develop, train and operate increasingly capable AI systems.
A neocloud is a specialized cloud computing provider focused on high-performance infrastructure, particularly graphics processing units and other processors required for AI workloads.
These providers seek to offer an alternative to conventional hyperscale cloud platforms by concentrating on access to advanced computing hardware, AI-specific software and flexible deployment models.
Sharon AI provides GPU and CPU computing infrastructure through its AI Cloud platform. The company is also working to support the development of AI factories and sovereign AI systems.
AI factories are large-scale computing environments used to train, customize and run AI models. They can combine data centers, high-performance processors, networking, storage and software into an integrated system.
Sovereign AI refers to a country’s or organization’s ability to develop and operate AI using infrastructure, data and governance frameworks under its own control.
Demand for sovereign infrastructure is increasing as governments and enterprises consider where sensitive information is stored, which jurisdictions apply to the data and whether they can maintain control over strategically important computing resources.
As Chief Legal Officer, Anastasiou will help Sharon AI address the regulatory, privacy, contractual and governance requirements associated with operating this infrastructure.
Her responsibilities may also involve supporting commercial agreements, capital markets obligations and the expansion of Sharon AI’s data center capacity and partner network.
Sharon AI is publicly traded on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol SHAZ. Operating as a listed company creates additional obligations involving disclosure, governance, investor communications and regulatory compliance.
The company said Anastasiou’s appointment reflects its broader investment in building an experienced regional leadership team.
