Sher Tremonte added Andrew Baum as a partner in New York, strengthening its white-collar defense, congressional investigations, government investigations, regulatory enforcement, and high-stakes litigation capabilities.
Baum joins the litigation boutique from a major international law firm.
His practice focuses on representing corporations, executives, elected officials, and other individuals in government investigations and complex litigation.
Baum regularly handles inquiries involving the Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, U.S. Congress, New York Attorney General, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, and Federal Trade Commission.
His experience spans financial fraud, federal securities laws, insider trading, market manipulation, False Claims Act cases, bribery, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act matters, cybersecurity, and antitrust litigation.
His representations have included securing the dismissal of all charges against a former Lieutenant Governor of New York.
Baum has also represented the CEO of a major technology company in regulatory investigations, congressional hearings, and class-action litigation that concluded without charges or other enforcement action.
He represented a global investment management firm in a multiyear investigation that ended without regulatory action.
Other matters have involved executives in the automotive and investment management industries.
Baum’s arrival follows several other recent partner additions at Sher Tremonte.
Those include former DOJ Antitrust Division Director of Litigation Catherine Dick, former SEC official Tami Stark, former DOJ Market Integrity and Major Frauds Unit Chief Brian Kidd, and former lead federal defender Deirdre von Dornum.
