Shift5, a company specializing in operational intelligence for defense and commercial transportation systems, has secured $75 million in Series C funding. The round was led by Hedosophia and included participation from Insight Partners, Center 15 Capital, 645 Ventures, Moore Strategic Ventures, Booz Allen Ventures, Squadra Ventures, AE Industrial, Disruptive, CSP Equity Partners, and Savano Capital Partners. This investment will help Shift5 scale its technology across aviation, rail, maritime, and ground vehicle fleets, addressing growing cybersecurity threats and infrastructure challenges.
The company’s platform provides real-time visibility into operational technology systems, enabling maintenance, operations, and cybersecurity teams to monitor performance, detect threats, and prevent failures. Since its previous funding round, Shift5 has secured major defense contracts, expanded its platform across military fleets, and introduced new capabilities, including predictive maintenance, GPS integrity monitoring, and multi-protocol data interfaces. Strategic partnerships with Boeing, Avionica, ForeFlight, Booz Allen Hamilton, Carahsoft, and AWS have further strengthened its market position.
Shift5 has also earned recognition from industry leaders, including being named one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies in Security and Data Science. CEO and co-founder Josh Lospinoso emphasized that the funding will accelerate the company’s mission to equip operators and defenders of critical systems with the tools they need to act confidently and effectively.
The Series C round also adds Shannon Clark, Palantir’s head of defense growth, to Shift5’s board. She joins existing members, including retired General Rich Clarke, Nick Sinai of Insight Partners, and Lospinoso himself. Clark highlighted Shift5’s ability to bridge defense and commercial applications, calling it a transformational solution for national security and infrastructure resilience.
Shift5’s approach to innovation—using private capital to develop advanced technologies—helps reduce taxpayer risk while delivering proven solutions to government customers. Retired General Clarke noted that this model accelerates the delivery of capabilities to warfighters and strengthens national defense.
How the funding will be used: With this new funding, Shift5 plans to expand research and development, grow its market presence, and enhance its go-to-market operations. The company’s work is already making an impact, and its continued growth promises to bring advanced operational intelligence to more sectors and systems.
