Shine Capital announced that Elie Seidman has joined the firm as a venture partner, expanding his role after serving as a senior advisor since 2021. The firm said Seidman will remain based in Austin, Texas, as Shine looks to broaden its presence in what it described as a fast-emerging technology ecosystem.
In his new position, Shine said Seidman will lead investments and serve on the boards of portfolio companies, while continuing to advise founders across the firm’s portfolio. Shine said it currently manages $575 million and is investing out of its third early-stage fund.
Shine, founded by Mo Koyfman in 2020, said it leads inception, seed, and Series A financings and continues backing companies as they scale. The firm said it maintains offices in New York and San Francisco and has recently been associated with fundraising rounds for portfolio companies, including Antares, AudioShake, Turnout, and Numerai.
Seidman was the former CEO of Tinder and a former CEO of OKCupid. Shine said that during his tenure at Tinder, he led a scale-up from $300 million in annual revenue to more than $1.1 billion. The release also noted earlier entrepreneurial work founding Epana and Oyster, as well as advisory roles with General Atlantic Partners’ technology group and Lime Rock Partners.
