Shrieve Chemical Company has acquired Research Solutions Group, expanding its presence across the Southeastern United States while adding industrial solvent blending, recycling, logistics, and waste management capabilities.
Shrieve is a portfolio company of Gemspring Capital and operates as a global distributor of specialized chemicals across a broad range of end markets. Research Solutions Group, or RSG, is headquartered in Pelham, Alabama, and distributes, blends, and recycles industrial solvents and specialty chemicals.
Founded in 1971, RSG serves customers throughout the Southeast with industrial solvents, custom solvent blends, specialty chemical products, solvent recycling, and waste management services. The company supports customers through a combination of transportation assets, technical expertise, and a network of operating facilities.
Shrieve said the acquisition broadens its geographic reach while strengthening its operational capabilities in blending, recycling, and logistics. The combination is also expected to give customers access to a wider range of specialty chemical products and services across key industrial markets.
RSG’s existing customer relationships and technical capabilities will complement Shrieve’s larger distribution platform and supplier network. Shrieve plans to build on the company’s established position in the Southeast while integrating RSG into its broader specialty chemicals business.
Based in The Woodlands, Texas, Shrieve was founded in 1978 and distributes nearly 1,500 products across more than 40 countries. The company operates through four primary business segments: Industrial Distribution, Specialty Distribution, Specialty Lubricants, and Energy Products and Services.
Gemspring Capital, which backs Shrieve, is a Westport, Connecticut-based private equity firm with approximately $5.1 billion of capital under management. The firm invests in middle-market companies across sectors including industrials, aerospace and defense, healthcare, business services, software, and technology-enabled services.
The RSG acquisition supports Shrieve’s long-term strategy of expanding its geographic footprint and adding specialized capabilities that can deepen its relationships with customers and suppliers.
