Shyld AI, a healthcare technology company developing Active Intelligence systems for healthcare facilities, announced it has raised a $13.4 million seed round to expand deployments across U.S. hospitals. The financing round is one of the largest early stage raises in the healthcare AI sector and was led by Aulis Capital.
Founded by brothers Mohammad and Morteza Noshad, Shyld AI is building Agentic AI systems designed to take real-time action inside hospital environments. The company said its technology focuses on operational workflows involving operating rooms, patient safety, compliance, and infection control.
Unlike ambient AI systems that primarily observe and document activity, Shyld AI said its platform actively executes operational tasks. In operating rooms, the company’s AI agents interpret case progression, turnover phases, staff movement, and delay drivers in real time. These capabilities help optimize disinfection timing between surgical cases, identify missing supplies before procedures, and reduce scheduling bottlenecks that can create costly delays.
At the core of the platform is VERTEX, Shyld AI’s proprietary foundation model built for edge native, real-time agentic AI deployment in physical environments. The company said VERTEX operates directly on Shyld AI devices located inside hospital rooms rather than relying on cloud infrastructure. This architecture enables continuous perception, reasoning, and operational action while preserving privacy and minimizing latency.
Shyld AI’s flagship system combines AI capabilities with UV-C light technology to autonomously disinfect hospital environments. The company noted that healthcare-associated infections contribute to approximately 72,000 hospital deaths annually in the United States, citing CDC data. According to a Stanford University study published in the American Journal of Infection Control, Shyld AI’s system reduced contamination by more than 93% compared to a control room.
The company plans to use the funding to accelerate deployments across U.S. health systems and expand its Active AI technology into additional regulated environments, including cleanrooms and pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.
KEY QUOTES:
“We’re moving the industry from passive AI to Active AI technology that understands how hospitals actually operate and improves workflows in real time without adding burden to clinical teams. This funding accelerates our mission to bring active physical intelligence into every healthcare facility.”
Mohammad Noshad, CEO and Co-Founder, Shyld AI
“What stands out about Shyld AI is the pace at which it’s being adopted across health systems. That kind of velocity is rare in healthcare. It comes from a fundamental shift, from passive, ambient AI to active intelligence.”
