Sidley has expanded its Global Arbitration, Trade and Advocacy practice by adding Jess Sanchez as a partner in its Washington, D.C., office.
Sanchez joins Sidley’s Litigation group after more than a decade of federal government experience. She most recently served as Acting Principal Deputy Assistant General Counsel at the U.S. Department of the Treasury and previously held positions at the U.S. Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, and in private practice.
At Sidley, Sanchez will advise companies, sponsors, investors, and other clients on complex legal, regulatory, policy, and national security matters. Her areas of focus include the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, or CFIUS, the Outbound Investment Security Program, and national security-related trade issues.
Her government background provides experience with how federal agencies approach investment screening and how legal, policy, trade, and national security considerations intersect in cross-border transactions.
Sanchez’s arrival adds another former government official to Sidley’s trade and national security capabilities. Recent additions to the practice include Maura Rezendes, who focuses on economic sanctions; John Foote, who concentrates on customs; Justin Becker, who handles trade remedies; and Boyd Greene, who advises on government contracts and national security matters.
The firm said Sanchez will work across practices to help clients manage regulatory uncertainty, preserve investment opportunities, and address risk in sophisticated cross-border transactions.
Sidley has more than 750 litigators globally, part of a broader organization of about 2,300 lawyers. The firm operates 21 offices in major commercial, regulatory, and financial centers worldwide, with lawyers and business professionals collectively speaking more than 75 languages.
