Sidley Austin announced that Greg Featherman has joined the firm as a partner in its tax practice in New York, strengthening the firm’s capabilities in cross-border tax planning and complex transactions.
Featherman previously served as a tax partner at Weil, Gotshal & Manges in New York. Earlier in his career, he spent a decade at KPMG, gaining experience advising clients on a wide range of tax and transactional matters.
At Sidley, Featherman will focus on advising clients on the U.S. tax aspects of complex domestic and cross-border transactions. His work centers on transactional tax planning across a broad range of corporate and financial matters, including mergers and acquisitions, spin-offs and other divisive transactions, internal restructurings, financings, joint ventures, and strategic business formations.
He represents public and private companies, private equity sponsors, sovereign wealth funds, foreign pension funds, and financial institutions in acquisitions and dispositions, debt and equity investments, and other transformative transactions. A significant portion of his work involves advising foreign funds, including sovereign wealth funds and pension funds, on investments in U.S. companies.
The addition of Featherman is part of a broader expansion of Sidley’s New York office. The firm has recently brought on several partners across multiple practices, including antitrust and competition, global finance, and investment funds.
Sidley said its tax practice includes more than 60 tax lawyers located across the United States and Europe, providing clients with guidance on tax issues across multiple jurisdictions and helping companies navigate the tax implications of evolving global business and regulatory environments.
