Sidley Austin announced that Jeffrey Ross has joined the firm as a partner in its Global Finance practice in New York, strengthening the firm’s capabilities in complex acquisition and leveraged finance transactions.
Ross previously served as chair of the finance group at Debevoise & Plimpton and was also a member of the firm’s private equity group and special situations team. At Sidley, he will focus on structuring and negotiating large-scale acquisition financings, including leveraged buyouts, mergers, reverse Morris trust transactions, and other strategic combinations.
His practice centers on advising private equity sponsors, portfolio companies, and corporate borrowers on debt financing arrangements across a wide range of credit facilities and capital structures. Ross has worked across several industries, including healthcare, media and entertainment, technology and gaming, and diversified industrial and services businesses.
Sidley said Ross brings longstanding relationships with leading private equity sponsors and corporate borrowers and will play a role in expanding the firm’s finance and private equity capabilities in New York and across its broader platform.
Ross’s arrival continues a period of growth for Sidley’s Global Finance group. Over the past two years, the firm has added more than a dozen partners to the practice across several offices, including New York, Chicago, London, San Diego, and Century City.
The firm’s finance practice includes more than 200 lawyers worldwide and advises on complex financing matters across a range of industries and asset classes. Sidley, which has roughly 2,300 lawyers and more than 160 years of history, operates from 21 offices globally and focuses on complex transactional, regulatory, and litigation matters.
