Sidley Austin announced that corporate and securities partner Steven Przesmicki has joined the firm’s San Diego office, bringing more than two decades of experience advising companies on corporate transactions, governance matters, and capital markets activity.
Przesmicki joins Sidley from Cooley, where he spent 25 years as a partner. His practice centers on corporate and securities law, with a focus on serving as outside corporate counsel to both public and private companies. His work spans SEC and corporate governance matters, private and public financings, mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, and venture capital financings.
He also advises companies on a range of complex transactions, including debt redemptions, joint ventures, option-exchange tender offers, and strategic commercial arrangements.
Przesmicki’s client base spans companies across the technology and life sciences sectors, including biotechnology, medical devices, vaccines, diagnostics, gaming equipment technology, consumer and enterprise software, and ecommerce. His work includes advising organizations at different stages of growth, from early-stage startups to established public companies.
The addition reflects Sidley’s continued investment in California and in its Emerging Companies and Venture Capital practice. The firm noted that Przesmicki’s arrival follows a series of strategic hires aimed at strengthening its capabilities in high-growth sectors and transactional advisory work.
Sidley has also recently added several other partners to its California offices, including litigation partner Michelle Doolin in San Diego and global finance partner Ike Chidi in Century City. In addition, the firm recently announced a new San Francisco office at 101 California Street, part of its broader expansion strategy in Northern California.
The firm said its Emerging Companies and Venture Capital practice is supported by a global platform of more than 650 lawyers advising on public and private transactions across industries, as well as regulatory and cross-border advisory capabilities.
