Sidley announced that Dave Perkins has joined the firm’s M&A and PE group as a partner in Sidley’s office in New York. Perkins joins from Cravath, Swaine & Moore, where he was co-head of the Private Equity group.
Perkins maintains a diverse practice that advises private equity sponsors, other private capital investors, and asset managers on all aspects of their transactions, capital raising activities, and business and investment structures. His transactional practice includes representing large-cap and middle-market PE sponsors and their portfolio companies in connection with complex transactions, including leveraged buyouts, take-privates, dispositions, spin-offs, joint ventures, minority and other structured investments, special situations restructurings, and general corporate matters.
Plus, Perkins also advises asset managers on the structuring and formation of investment funds and other investment vehicles across a wide variety of asset classes, including private equity, private credit and real estate. And he has extensive experience with mergers, acquisitions, GP stakes, seed transactions, and other transactions involving asset managers, and has represented clients across a wide range of industries.
Before practicing law, Perkins served as an officer in the United States Army in various infantry assignments, including with the 82nd Airborne Division and as an embedded advisor to the Afghan Security Forces in Southern Afghanistan, attaining the rank of Major.
