Siena has raised $17 million in Series A funding to expand its Agent of Record platform for consumer brands, bringing the company’s total funding to $29.7 million. York IE led the round, with participation from Joyance Ventures and existing investors Aglaé Ventures and Sierra Ventures.

Siena initially developed an empathic AI customer service agent and is now expanding into a shared intelligence layer connecting customer-facing AI agents, internal agents and human employees.

The company plans to use the new funding to develop additional autonomous agents and expand the infrastructure brands use to support customers and generate revenue.

Siena’s Shopping Agent and Social Agent can answer customer questions, recommend products and complete purchases directly within conversations.

The Social Agent also handles moderation, community engagement and support across direct messages and comments, including product questions associated with paid advertising campaigns.

Siena also provides voice agents using the same customer context, a shared inbox for human and AI teams, A/B testing, a Quality Suite for grading agent performance and Autopilot tools that help customers build agents.

Hundreds of consumer brands use Siena, including FIGS, SPANX, Comfrt and HexClad.

Across customer deployments, Siena said its technology can automate up to 80% of customer interactions.

The company’s Agent of Record platform combines conversations, orders, subscriptions, reviews, loyalty data and brand knowledge through Siena Intelligence.

Siena is seeking to make information learned in one interaction available throughout the customer relationship, allowing support, sales, social and other agents to operate from shared context.

KEY QUOTES:

“Siena is rebuilding the customer experience stack around customer intelligence, connecting how brands serve, sell to and retain their customers. We believe Siena can become as essential to running a brand as its commerce platform.”

Tom Holahan, General Partner at York IE

“Support, shopping and social may be different departments inside a company. To the customer, they’re one relationship.”

Lisa Popovici, Co-Founder and President of Siena

“We started by helping brands take care of their customers. Today, brands use Siena to help customers buy and guide decisions across the business. When an agent learns why someone buys or leaves, that understanding should travel with the customer and reach the people running the brand. The same understanding that helps an agent resolve a conversation can help a founder decide what to build next. Our ambition is for agents to manage the entire customer journey with that context.”
