Sierra Acquires Takeoff, Building Long-Horizon Agent Platform Called Horizon

Sierra announced it is acquiring Takeoff, a company that has grown from $0 in annual recurring revenue at the start of the year to nearly eight figures in revenue as of earlier this month. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Together, the two companies are building a new platform called Horizon.

Takeoff spent the past 14 months building what it describes as a long-horizon agent runtime designed to let AI agents operate like humans while scaling like software. According to Takeoff co-founder Aakash Thumaty, the company’s approach centers on building end-to-end solutions specific to individual industries and getting paid directly based on the outcomes those solutions produce, rather than treating inference as a standalone commodity.

Thumaty said this focus on revenue-aligned outcomes helped the company secure several seven-figure contracts within months of raising its most recent funding round, with Takeoff agents outperforming competing agents in head-to-head tests across five industries, including lending and healthcare, while also outperforming the processes, systems, and people previously in place at client organizations.

Takeoff had reached a near eight-figure run rate with a three-person team prior to the acquisition. Rather than following the typical path of hiring a sales team and raising additional funding independently, the company said it chose to join Sierra to accelerate its vision at a larger scale, citing shared conviction that fully autonomous agents will perform human-level work at software scale and that long-horizon agents will reshape some of the largest industries in the world.

Building effective customer-facing agents requires deep operational understanding of each industry it serves, such as knowing how loan officers build trust with borrowers or understanding the relationships between patients, providers, and payers in healthcare settings, rather than simply connecting a general-purpose AI model to existing systems.

The company said this combination of technical capability and industry-specific understanding, paired with Sierra’s resources, scale, and existing partnerships, positions the combined business to deploy agents effectively. The move follows Sierra’s recent announcement of Horizon and its previously announced partnership with SoftBank Corp, as well as a $950 million funding round the company raised in May 2026 at a valuation of over $15 billion.
