Sigma Defense Systems Expanding Tactical Edge With Acquisition Of Aries Defense

By Amit Chowdhry • Oct 14, 2025

Sigma Defense Systems, a major player in the fields of CJADC2, C5ISR, and DevSecOps solutions, has announced the acquisition of Aries Defense. Founded in 2017, Aries Defense is a specialized defense technology company known for its expertise in tactical video and sensor integration.

The company focuses on capturing and distributing data from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and unattended sensors, enhancing real-time situational awareness for military operations.

This acquisition significantly bolsters Sigma Defense’s capabilities in CJADC2 at the tactical edge of operations.

By integrating Aries Defense’s established edge ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) products with Sigma’s own Olympus ecosystem—an advanced platform designed for software development, orchestration, and multi-domain data fusion—the partnership aims to provide commanders and warfighters with the ability to securely share real-time ISR video and sensor data across the joint force.

This integration ensures a smooth flow of critical information from the field into the larger CJADC2 enterprise.

Aries Defense brings a portfolio of effective products, including OverWatch, CheckPoints, Recon V OverWatch, and NEOS. These solutions are specifically designed to connect various devices, such as cameras, UAVs, and unattended sensors, into secure tactical networks.

They offer persistent surveillance and full-motion video (FMV), even in complex environments characterized as denied, degraded, intermittent, and limited (D-DIL). The operational effectiveness of these products has been validated through their deployment under U.S. Marine Corps programs of record.

By merging the edge ISR capture and networking capabilities of Aries Defense with the cloud-native DevSecOps foundation of Olympus, Sigma Defense significantly enhances its offerings. The collaboration enables seamless integration of ISR data into CJADC2 systems, supports scalable operations involving UAVs and unattended sensors, and enhances situational awareness in challenging D-DIL conditions. Additionally, the combined solutions are field-ready, ensuring rapid deployment when the need arises.

This acquisition reflects Sigma Defense’s ongoing commitment to investing in integrated, mission-driven solutions that enhance the connection between people, data, and systems. The goal is to achieve information superiority, facilitate faster decision-making, and foster better outcomes in the increasingly complex modern battlespace.
