Sigmetrix announced the appointment of Ed Walsh as President, effective immediately, as the company continues to expand its mechanical variation management solutions for manufacturers worldwide.
Walsh brings more than 18 years of experience at Sigmetrix and most recently served as Chief Operating Officer. In that role, he led initiatives to scale the business, enhance customer outcomes, and align the company’s software, services, and training offerings.
Sigmetrix specializes in helping manufacturers improve engineering decisions by managing mechanical variation throughout the product lifecycle. The company provides software, consulting, and training services designed to help organizations improve product quality, control manufacturing costs, and accelerate product development.
During his tenure, Walsh has focused on connecting engineering innovation with measurable business results. Under his leadership, Sigmetrix has supported customers in maximizing the value of model-based definition (MBD) investments, balancing quality with manufacturing costs, and reducing development timelines. The company said his efforts have strengthened Sigmetrix’s position as a partner helping manufacturers capture and retain critical product and process knowledge across the enterprise.
Before joining Sigmetrix, Walsh was a partner at Leading Edge Engineering, where he led business development activities and headed the Robust Design and Variation Analysis Group. He has also held leadership positions within the Product Development and Management Association (PDMA), including serving as president of the Chicago chapter and as a regional director.
Walsh holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and completed the University of Chicago’s Executive Program for New Product Development. He is a Motorola Certified Six Sigma Black Belt, a Certified New Product Development Professional, and an inventor recognized by the U.S. Patent Office.
As President, Walsh will oversee Sigmetrix’s long-term strategic direction and operational execution, with a continued focus on helping manufacturers improve quality, reduce costs, accelerate innovation, and manage mechanical variation throughout the engineering process.
