Simpson Thacher Adds Six Partners To Asset Management Platform

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett has added six partners across New York and London to expand its capabilities in asset management M&A, GP-stakes transactions, secondaries, and strategic sponsor transactions.

Brian Parness, Simon Saitowitz, Andrew Nichol, Corey Dietrich and Alexander Miachika have joined the firm, while Charles Cooper-Isow is set to join.

Parness will lead Simpson Thacher’s Sponsor Transactions and Advisory Practice.

The multidisciplinary practice covers transactions involving asset managers, including M&A, GP-stakes deals, strategic partnerships and secondary liquidity solutions.

The incoming partners advise asset managers, private equity sponsors and institutional investors across strategic transactions affecting alternative asset management businesses.

Their experience includes GP-stakes transactions, GP-led secondaries, continuation funds, seed and strategic investments, succession planning, platform investments and governance structuring.

The team represents both buyers and sellers in transactions involving alternative asset managers across multiple investment strategies, geographies and asset classes.

Simpson Thacher said the expansion responds to continued growth in strategic transactions involving alternative asset managers, including consolidation among asset managers, maturation of the GP-stakes market and demand for liquidity solutions.

The appointments follow the recent addition of Stephanie Srulowitz and further expand the firm’s New York-London asset management platform.

The Sponsor Transactions and Advisory Practice draws on Simpson Thacher’s broader private equity, M&A, investment funds, registered funds, insurance, tax, executive compensation, regulatory and financing capabilities.
