Simpson Thacher & Bartlett announced that Christine Bae and Jacob Ruby have joined the firm as partners in its Capital Structure Solutions Practice, reinforcing its push to build out capabilities in complex financing and restructuring matters.
The additions follow the recent formation of the practice, which is led by David Nemecek and focuses on advising clients on liability management, private credit and special situations. The hires are part of a broader strategy to expand the firm’s multidisciplinary platform and respond to increasing demand for sophisticated capital structure solutions.
Bae and Ruby bring experience advising sponsors, companies, lenders and investors on complex capital structure matters, including liability management exercises and distressed transactions. Their work has centered on designing tailored solutions to address strategic and financial challenges for clients.
The Capital Structure Solutions Practice integrates the firm’s liability management, special situations and restructuring teams with its broader financing capabilities. The goal is to provide coordinated guidance across financing strategy, credit solutions, distressed M&A and chapter 11 restructurings.
Their arrival is also tied to Nemecek’s recent move to Simpson Thacher, as the firm builds out a team focused on high-end restructuring and liability management work.
Simpson Thacher said the hires will enhance its ability to deliver strategic, client-aligned advice across the capital structure spectrum and further strengthen its integrated global platform.
