SmallRig Technology has completed the acquisition of selected Kelvin Group assets, expanding its professional imaging and lighting capabilities. The acquired assets include the Kelvin brand, certain intellectual property rights, selected product portfolios, technical documentation and other related assets. The transaction terms were not disclosed.
Kelvin Group, which was founded in Norway, develops professional lighting products for filmmakers, photographers and content creators.
Its portfolio includes lighting systems designed around color accuracy, performance and creator-focused functionality, and the Kelvin brand has developed an international presence among professional users.
SmallRig plans to use its global research and development capabilities, manufacturing infrastructure and international distribution network to continue developing the acquired Kelvin assets.
The strategy is intended to expand the Kelvin brand’s geographic reach while preserving the product quality, innovation and identity associated with its existing professional lighting portfolio.
SmallRig Technology is a subsidiary of LEQI Innovation, the company behind the SmallRig brand.
SmallRig supports creators across more than 160 countries and regions with imaging products designed for a range of production environments and workflows.
LEQI combines user-driven product development with research, manufacturing and global distribution through what it calls its User Co-design approach.
The Kelvin transaction also fits within a broader expansion strategy for LEQI Innovation.
Over the past year, the company has increased strategic investments, acquisitions and partnerships across manufacturing, smart manufacturing, professional lighting, imaging technologies and product innovation.
LEQI said it intends to continue using acquisitions, partnerships and corporate venture capital initiatives to strengthen external innovation and build a more comprehensive imaging solutions ecosystem.
For SmallRig, acquiring the Kelvin brand and related intellectual property adds a recognized professional lighting portfolio to a global imaging platform already serving creators across cameras, production workflows and related accessories.
