Smart business card and mobile app company Blue announced it has raised a $1.368 million Series Seed Round led by billionaire venture capitalist Tim Draper. Draper is a renowned investor who made early deals with companies like Tesla, SpaceX, Coinbase, and Twitter. Draper is investing $1 million through Draper Associates. And Draper University Ventures also participated in the round by putting in $100,000.
This round of funding will enable Blue to further capitalize on its position as an innovative Bluetooth-based social network. Blue is a minority family-owned tech startup that encourages connection through technology.
“Technology can impact our unconscious mind, and we all must become aware of how the products we use can impact our thinking and behaviors,” said Blue chief marketing officer Christen Montero. “At Blue, we want our technology to maximize social opportunities and lead our users back to in-person social behavior.”
Brother-sister duo Christen Montero and Jose Montero (CEO) launched Blue to encourage people to be social. And their father Jose Montero Sr. is also involved as Blue’s Chief Operating Officer and CFO along with Mario Contreras (a member of the founding team), serving as Blue’s Chief Product Development Officer.
The family-owned tech startup developed a mobile app and Smart Card, which uses Bluetooth low energy and near field communication to help people introduce themselves to those they cross paths with in real life.
