Smartbird has nominated technology industry veterans Elizabeth Mora and Dan Kasun for election to its board of directors at the AI infrastructure provider’s next annual meeting of stockholders. The nominees would add experience across corporate governance, finance, cloud computing, artificial intelligence sales, partner ecosystems and go-to-market strategy.
Mora is an experienced public company director and former finance executive. She previously served as Chief Financial Officer of Draper Laboratory and Harvard University.
She currently chairs the board of Inogen and serves as a director of MKS Instruments, where she chairs the audit committee. Mora is also a director of Limoneira Company and chairs its compensation and nominating and governance committees.
Her experience is expected to provide Smartbird with additional expertise in financial oversight, corporate governance and public company stewardship as the company expands its operations.
Kasun brings nearly three decades of experience in cloud technology, enterprise sales and channel development.
He spent 18 years at Microsoft and 11 years at Amazon Web Services in technology sales and channel leadership positions. Kasun currently serves as Senior Vice President and Global Head of Partner Ecosystem at Pegasystems.
Throughout his career, Kasun has developed partner networks and go-to-market strategies supporting enterprise technology adoption. He also brings experience serving regulated industries, including government agencies, financial institutions and healthcare organizations.
Smartbird expects his background in hyperscale technology platforms and strategic partnerships to support the company’s efforts to reach customers seeking greater control over their AI infrastructure.
The company provides dedicated GPU-based computing infrastructure through a managed-service model.
Smartbird handles the procurement, deployment, operation and hardware refresh of private AI clusters, allowing customers to use dedicated computing capacity without directly financing or managing the underlying infrastructure.
Its services are intended to provide the performance, control, scalability and security of privately operated AI infrastructure while reducing the operational burden placed on customers.
Smartbird is targeting enterprises and organizations in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, financial services and the public sector, where security, compliance and control over data and computing resources can be particularly important.
The company appointed Nadia Carlsten as President and CEO in June 2026. Carlsten brings experience in sovereign AI and supercomputing and is leading Smartbird’s strategy of delivering AI infrastructure as a managed service.
Mora and Kasun must be elected by Smartbird’s stockholders before formally joining the board.
KEY QUOTE:
“Beth and Dan have spent a long time in this industry focusing on growth and hyperscale go-to-market. Having that experience on our board with exactly the customers and partners we want to serve will be a real advantage as we grow the business.”
Nadia Carlsten, CEO of Smartbird
