Snowflake announced a multi-year, $200 million partnership with OpenAI to help enterprises deploy AI agents and context-aware applications on governed enterprise data. The collaboration centers on co-innovation and joint go-to-market, with Snowflake and OpenAI developing customized AI solutions for shared enterprise customers.

Under the direct, first-party partnership, OpenAI models will be made natively available to Snowflake’s 12,600 global customers within Snowflake Cortex AI across all three major clouds. Snowflake said the integration is designed to let organizations apply OpenAI models to their proprietary data for research, analytics, and decision-making while maintaining security, compliance, and governance controls.

Snowflake positioned OpenAI as one of the primary model capabilities available on its platform, with OpenAI models, including GPT-5.2, accessible within Snowflake Intelligence, Snowflake’s enterprise intelligence agent that lets employees securely access and act on organizational knowledge using natural language. The company also highlighted support for building interoperable AI agents that can reason over governed data and take action across tools and applications, as well as multimodal analysis capabilities through Snowflake Cortex AI Functions.

The partnership expands on an existing relationship between the companies. Snowflake said OpenAI uses Snowflake internally as a data platform for experiment tracking, analytics, and testing, while Snowflake uses ChatGPT Enterprise internally to support workforce productivity and decision making.
