Snowflake To Buy Datometry Migration Solution

By Amit Chowdhry ● Nov 10, 2025

Snowflake announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the technology behind the Datometry software migration solution. This acquisition is designed to enable organizations to transition from legacy data warehouses to the Snowflake AI Data Cloud more efficiently, while reducing costs and simplifying operational complexity.

The Datometry technology allows applications to be built for legacy environments such as Teradata to run on Snowflake with minimal code changes by translating queries, scripts, and workloads in real time. According to Snowflake, this capability can accelerate migrations by up to four times and reduce associated costs by as much as 90 percent.

Snowflake currently offers solutions such as SnowConvert AI and the Snowpark Migration Accelerator to support modernization efforts. By integrating Datometry technology directly into SnowConvert AI, Snowflake aims to make migrations faster and more seamless for existing and prospective customers. The company stated that this will help organizations reduce the time and effort required to migrate client applications, tooling, and workflows, enabling them to achieve faster time to value on the Snowflake AI Data Cloud.

As part of the transaction, Snowflake will welcome several Datometry team members. This includes Datometry founder and CEO Mike Waas, CTO Michael Duller, and VP of Customer Success Rima Mutreja. Snowflake noted that the experience and technical expertise of the Datometry team will contribute to ongoing advancements in data migration within its platform.

Snowflake emphasized that its AI Data Cloud already provides enterprise-ready, cloud-native architecture and partner ecosystem support to streamline modernization efforts. By adding Datometry’s capabilities, Snowflake expects customers to transition existing workloads more efficiently, minimize disruptions, and focus on innovation rather than re-engineering core systems.
