Solidec: $2 Million Pre-Seed Funding Raised To Transform Chemical Manufacturing

By Amit Chowdhry ● Aug 6, 2025

Solidec, a leader in clean chemical manufacturing, has raised over $2 million in pre-seed funding, led by New Climate Ventures (NCV), with support from Plug and Play Ventures and Ecosphere Ventures. The company is revolutionizing chemical production by utilizing modular and on-site facilities that rely solely on air, water, and electricity to produce essential chemicals, including hydrogen peroxide, formic acid, acetic acid, and ethylene.

Focusing initially on hydrogen peroxide, which is vital for industries such as semiconductor fabrication and wastewater treatment, Solidec aims to disrupt the multi-billion-dollar chemical market. The funding will help accelerate its go-to-market strategy, including pilot deployments and scaling of its technology.

With the chemical industry accounting for approximately 40% of U.S. industrial carbon emissions, Solidec’s technology aims to enable emission-free production and drive innovation. Founded in 2024 from Professor Haotian Wang’s lab at Rice University, Solidec is based in Houston, Texas, and has received the Activate Fellowship and graduated from the Chevron Catalyst Program.

KEY QUOTES:

“We’ve known the Solidec team for almost two years and have developed a high degree of conviction in the team, their technology, and their go-to-market strategy. We’re particularly excited about Solidec’s ability to produce many different widely used chemicals. It gives them critical flexibility to expand and serve a broad customer base.”

Eric Rubenstein, Managing Partner at New Climate Ventures

“Traditionally, hydrogen peroxide is produced in centralized, energy-intensive facilities using carbon-intensive inputs, then transported long distances, resulting in a significant carbon footprint. Solidec’s modular reactor produces clean chemicals like hydrogen peroxide on-site, in fewer steps, and with less energy, slashing emissions, supply-chain risk, and cost. We’re eager to deliver these capabilities to customers across the globe.”

Ryan DuChanois, Co-Founder and CEO of Solidec
