Sona: $45 Million Raised To Expand AI Platform For Frontline Workforce Operations

Sona, an AI platform focused on frontline and “real economy” businesses, has raised $45 million in a Series B funding round led by N47, with participation from Felicis, Northzone, Gradient, and Italian Founders Fund. This latest round brings the company’s total funding to over $100 million as it accelerates expansion in the United States and advances its AI-driven operational platform.

The company is positioning itself as a unified system for frontline organizations, replacing fragmented legacy tools with an integrated platform spanning scheduling, HR, payroll, and business intelligence. Its software is already used by businesses such as Popeyes and Tao Group to optimize workforce management and operational efficiency.

Sona’s platform leverages AI-powered forecasting and scheduling tools that analyze real-time data such as bookings, revenue, weather patterns, and historical shift performance. These models continuously adapt to predict demand and recommend optimal staffing decisions, helping businesses align labor with peak activity while reducing inefficiencies.

In addition to workforce management, Sona has introduced Forge, an enterprise AI application builder that enables companies to create custom software tailored to their operations. These applications are automatically integrated with core business data and deployed securely, allowing organizations to combine standardized tools with bespoke solutions.

The broader goal is to replace outdated workforce systems with an AI-native infrastructure that enables businesses to build and adapt their own operational software in real time. By serving as the system of record across key functions, Sona aims to become the central platform powering frontline operations across industries such as hospitality, retail, healthcare, and logistics.

KEY QUOTES:

“Every other enterprise software category has been transformed by AI, but the tools managing the world’s largest workforce are still fundamentally the same systems that were built 20 years ago. We had a ten-year plan. AI made it a one-year plan. The old SaaS model delivered one-size-fits-all applications that companies had to adapt to. The next generation delivers the infrastructure and agentic layer organisations build on, giving them the power to create the exact software their business needs. That’s what Sona is becoming for the frontline economy.”

Steffen Wulff Petersen, Co-Founder and CEO of Sona

“In a global market supporting billions of workers, AI represents a unique opportunity to uproot entrenched, outdated frontline tools and usher in a new way of operating for the real economy. Sona has built the leading, end-to-end AI-native product for workforce management, with best-in-class capabilities that enable it to become the operational foundation these organizations run on. We’re extremely excited to partner with Steffen, Ben, and Oli in leading this round as Sona continues its journey to global category leadership.”
