Sonic Fire Tech: $3.5 Million Raised To Launch Infrasound Fire Defense Solutions

Sonic Fire Tech, a pioneering “firetech” startup developing infrasound-based fire prevention systems, announced it has raised $3.5 million in seed funding to accelerate deployment of its zero-damage, waterless fire suppression technology. The round was co-led by Khosla Ventures, Third Sphere, and AirAngels, with participation from several mission-aligned angel investors.

Founded by engineers with backgrounds in NASA-inspired technologies, Sonic Fire Tech is introducing a disruptive approach to wildfire defense, using sound waves rather than water or chemicals to suppress fires before they ignite. The company’s patented infrasound fire suppression systems are designed to provide damage-free, chemical-free, and waterless protection for residential properties, commercial infrastructure, utilities, and first responders.

CEO and Co-Founder Geoff Bruder said the company’s goal is to advance environmentally responsible, pre-ignition fire defense systems that adapt to the escalating threat of climate-driven wildfires. The company’s technology uses low-frequency infrasound waves—below the range of human hearing—to neutralize early-stage fire conditions before they evolve into destructive blazes.

The company plans to use the new funding to move from prototype to large-scale deployment. Specific initiatives include:

  1. Pursuing certification and regulatory approvals with FM Global, UL (Underwriters Laboratories), and public safety authorities.
  2. Scaling domestic manufacturing and establishing installation partner networks to produce at least 500 units by the second quarter of 2026.
  3. Launching pilot field deployments for homeowners, utilities, and fire agencies, with a goal of 50 installations by early 2026.
  4. Expanding access to public-sector grants and insurance partnerships to support adoption in high-risk wildfire zones.

The company’s product line includes three primary offerings tailored to different users and risk levels. Its Home Defense System provides rapid, infrasound-based suppression for wildfire-prone residences and estates. The Sonic Backpack, a portable unit for wildland firefighters, offers immediate field suppression capability, while the High-Value Asset Protection System is designed to safeguard critical facilities such as data centers, utilities, and communication infrastructure through continuous, ambient infrasound defense.

Sonic Fire Tech’s approach addresses a pressing need in wildfire management. As wildfires grow in both frequency and intensity due to climate change, traditional fire suppression systems—dependent on water, chemicals, and reactive response—have become increasingly inadequate. Sonic Fire Tech’s solution provides proactive protection without damage to property, ecosystems, or health, operating silently and safely for both humans and animals.

The company’s aerospace-inspired engineering roots and its commitment to zero-water, zero-toxin suppression have earned strong support from investors seeking climate technology solutions with scalable impact. Backers view the technology as a potential game-changer in the global effort to defend communities and infrastructure from rapidly spreading wildfires.

With its headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio, Sonic Fire Tech aims to make infrasound-based defense systems accessible to a broad market of homeowners, public utilities, and emergency response organizations. The company is preparing for full operational rollout in 2026 as it works to secure product certifications and expand its U.S. manufacturing footprint.

KEY QUOTES:

“Climate conditions have changed, but fire defense has not. We aim to advance fire protection with efficient, environmentally responsible solutions for homes and communities, developed with NASA-inspired technologies. This funding accelerates our mission.”

Geoff Bruder, CEO and Co-Founder, Sonic Fire Tech

“Traditional fire suppression tools weren’t built for the wildfire reality we face today. Sonic Fire Tech is taking a bold new approach, using sound waves that aim to fight fires more safely and effectively, and may even stop ignition before flames ever start.”

Rajesh Swaminathan, Partner, Khosla Ventures

“There is an urgent need for resilient fire suppression solutions, and we are dedicated to meeting that need. Every second is critical, whether protecting residences, critical infrastructure, or first responders in the field.”
