Sopra Steria has completed its acquisition of Digital Product Simulation through its CIMPA subsidiary, expanding the European technology group’s product lifecycle management, digital engineering and industrial simulation capabilities. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Digital Product Simulation provides simulation and product lifecycle management solutions to industrial customers. Its expertise supports companies seeking to digitally design, test, modify and manage complex products throughout their development and operating lifecycles.
The acquisition strengthens Sopra Steria’s ability to offer end-to-end PLM services, from product design and engineering through simulation, manufacturing preparation, maintenance and ongoing lifecycle management.
It also expands the group’s capabilities involving Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform, which industrial companies use to connect product data, engineering processes, simulation tools and collaborative workflows within a unified digital environment.
By adding Digital Product Simulation’s technical team and specialized knowledge, Sopra Steria expects to provide broader support to companies managing increasingly complex engineering and manufacturing programs.
Digital Product Simulation employs more than 115 engineers with expertise in digital simulation, PLM systems and industrial technology. The acquired team will become part of CIMPA, Sopra Steria’s product lifecycle management-focused subsidiary.
The business generated approximately €12 million in revenue under International Financial Reporting Standards during 2025.
Digital Product Simulation’s non-IFRS revenue was approximately €17 million, including nearly €6.3 million related to software distribution.
The difference reflects the accounting treatment applied when the company acts as an agent in software transactions. Under IFRS 15, only the net commission earned from those sales is recognized as revenue rather than the full value of the software distributed.
Sopra Steria expects the acquisition to enhance its ability to support industrial companies in aviation, defense and nuclear energy.
Customers in these sectors frequently operate long-duration engineering programs involving highly technical products, extensive regulatory requirements and large volumes of data that must remain accessible and consistent throughout a product’s lifecycle.
Simulation technology can allow engineers to test product performance, identify potential problems and evaluate design changes digitally before committing resources to physical prototypes or production.
PLM platforms can also connect engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and maintenance teams, helping organizations maintain a common source of product information across departments and locations.
Sopra Steria sees strong growth potential for these capabilities, particularly in sovereign industries that European governments consider important to national security, energy independence and industrial competitiveness.
The acquisition gives Sopra Steria additional technical resources to address that demand while strengthening CIMPA’s position as a provider of specialized digital engineering and PLM services.
It also advances Sopra Steria’s broader strategy of offering comprehensive digital transformation solutions to major corporate and public-sector clients rather than supplying isolated technology services.
Digital Product Simulation has been included in Sopra Steria’s consolidated financial results since August 1, 2026.
Sopra Steria generated €5.6 billion in revenue during 2025 and employs approximately 51,000 people across nearly 30 countries.
The group provides consulting, digital services and technology solutions intended to help large companies and public organizations modernize their operations, improve efficiency and manage complex digital transformation programs.
