South Park Commons Raises $575 Million Fund IV, Bringing AUM To About $2 Billion

South Park Commons has raised $575 million for its fourth fund, expanding the venture firm’s ability to invest in seed and Series A rounds and continue supporting its strongest portfolio companies beyond their earliest stages.

Fund IV is South Park Commons’ largest fund and more than twice the size of the $275 million third fund it announced in 2024. The new vehicle brings the firm’s assets under management to approximately $2 billion.

Founded in 2016, South Park Commons began as a community for technologists and founders in what it calls the “-1 to 0” stage. This refers to the period before a founder has committed to a specific company or idea, when they are still exploring markets, testing concepts and determining what they want to build.

The community has grown to approximately 1,200 members globally. Its model gives founders space to explore ideas, abandon unpromising directions and develop conviction before accelerating company formation.

Although South Park Commons is sometimes described as an accelerator, the firm positions itself as closer to an “anti-accelerator.” Rather than applying speed to an existing business idea, SPC focuses on helping founders determine which problems deserve their time and talent.

Fund IV marks an expansion of that approach. South Park Commons will continue supporting founders before company formation but will have more capital to lead seed and Series A rounds, maintain larger ownership positions and remain actively involved as companies mature.

South Park Commons said its first three funds rank among the top 10% of their respective vintages. Companies that originated within its community include Baseten, Gamma, Render, Goodfire, Luma AI and Profound.

The firm expects emerging areas such as physical AI, robotics, energy, biotechnology, semiconductors and scientific infrastructure to create significant opportunities for its members.

South Park Commons believes falling development costs and increasingly capable AI systems are widening the gap between what technology can accomplish and the scale of the problems founders are currently attempting to solve.
