S&P Global announced significant upgrades to its flagship Capital IQ Pro platform, introducing new artificial intelligence capabilities, expanded financial datasets, and the acquisition of Drift AI to accelerate financial modeling workflows.
The enhancements are designed to strengthen Capital IQ Pro as a comprehensive research and analytics platform for financial professionals, supporting investment analysis, idea generation, risk management, and client coverage. The updates combine new AI-powered tools with broader data coverage across fixed income, biopharma, and private markets.
One of the key upgrades is the integration of ProntoNLP sentiment analysis into Capital IQ Pro’s Document Intelligence feature. The tool enables users to analyze earnings call transcripts and other financial documents more efficiently by identifying themes and sentiment across large volumes of text. The addition builds on S&P Global’s acquisition of ProntoNLP in 2025, which expanded the company’s generative AI and natural language processing capabilities for analyzing unstructured financial data.
S&P Global also expanded the platform’s data coverage across several asset classes. In fixed income, the company added more than 4 million structured securities from Markit, bringing enhanced pricing data, liquidity insights, and reference information such as collateral types and advisor roles. Earlier updates had already added more than 20 million fixed-income securities spanning loans, municipal bonds, government securities, sovereign debt, agency bonds, and corporate debt.
New security-level ownership data has also been introduced for fixed income markets, allowing analysts to examine institutional holdings, track investor positioning, and better understand concentration risks within bond portfolios.
In the healthcare sector, the platform now incorporates Visible Alpha Biopharma data, providing detailed pharmaceutical industry analytics such as drug pipeline tracking, clinical trial insights, regulatory timelines, and market forecasts. The data aims to help investors evaluate opportunities in the rapidly evolving biopharmaceutical sector.
Private markets coverage has also expanded with the addition of 20,000 investment committee meeting packs, tender documents, and limited partner filings to the platform’s AI-powered document analysis system. The integration represents the first major incorporation of With Intelligence content into Capital IQ Pro and enables users to analyze limited partner allocation strategies and track their evolution over time.
The platform has also added broader headcount analytics, allowing users to evaluate companies using workforce-based metrics when financial data for private companies is limited. These updates also improve connections between fund sponsors, funds, and fund managers during screening and analysis workflows.
Alongside the platform updates, S&P Global announced the acquisition of Drift AI, formerly known as Arkifi. The company specializes in AI-powered Excel tools that automate financial modeling tasks. Drift AI’s technology enables analysts to build and query financial models using natural language, enrich spreadsheets with contextual insights, and identify trends or validate assumptions more efficiently.
S&P Global plans to integrate Drift AI’s capabilities into the Capital IQ Pro Excel Plugin, bringing AI-powered financial modeling directly into the spreadsheet workflows widely used by financial professionals.
The company said the combined updates aim to accelerate analysis and help clients make faster, more informed investment decisions by pairing trusted financial datasets with advanced AI-driven tools.
