SpaceX revealed in its IPO filing that Grok had reached approximately 117 million monthly active users as of March 2026, underscoring the rapid growth of Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence ambitions through xAI and its integration with X.
The filing noted that X had roughly 550 million users overall, with about 21% of those users actively engaging with Grok features. The disclosure provides one of the clearest looks yet at Grok’s adoption metrics as competition intensifies across the generative AI market.
The filing also revealed that Grok and X subscription products generated approximately $365 million in revenue during 2025. However, only about 1.9 million users were paying for premium SuperGrok subscription tiers, highlighting the early-stage monetization challenges associated with consumer AI products.
The user figures emerged as part of broader disclosures tied to SpaceX’s planned IPO and its growing investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure. Reports tied to the filing indicated that xAI lost approximately $6.4 billion in 2025 as the company rapidly expanded GPU capacity and data center infrastructure to compete with rivals including OpenAI.
The filing also referenced OpenAI’s scale, noting that ChatGPT had surpassed 900 million weekly users, emphasizing the widening race among leading AI platforms to capture consumer engagement and enterprise adoption.
Grok has become increasingly integrated into X’s ecosystem as Musk pushes to position the platform as a central hub for AI-powered search, content generation, and conversational assistance. The technology has also been embedded into several products and services connected to Musk’s broader ecosystem of companies.
The disclosures offer investors additional insight into how SpaceX and affiliated companies are leveraging AI products to diversify revenue streams while building long-term infrastructure capabilities tied to advanced computing and large-scale model training.
