SPARK Microsystems announced it has closed a C$17 million Series B follow-on financing round to accelerate commercialization of its next-generation wireless technology. The round was co-led by Idealist Capital and Real Ventures, with participation from Cycle Capital, ND Capital, and EDC.
The company develops ultra-low-power, short-range wireless communication solutions designed for intelligent edge devices and emerging Physical AI applications. Its proprietary LE-UWB technology is positioned as an alternative to traditional wireless standards, offering improvements in power efficiency, latency, throughput, and reliability in complex radio environments.
The funding will support SPARK’s expansion as demand increases for wireless solutions capable of supporting advanced applications such as AI wearables, AR and VR headsets, gaming peripherals, industrial sensors, autonomous robots, smart building systems, and medical devices. These applications require connectivity that can operate efficiently under strict power constraints while delivering real-time performance.
SPARK’s technology aims to address limitations in legacy wireless platforms like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi by delivering higher performance in interference-heavy environments. The company is focusing on scaling customer engagements, strengthening its commercial channels, and driving deployments in markets where performance and efficiency are critical.
The company believes its technology has broad implications across both industrial and consumer sectors, enabling new use cases in IoT and Physical AI systems. By improving wireless performance at low power levels, SPARK aims to support the next generation of connected devices while reducing reliance on wired connections and minimizing battery usage.
