Splight: $12.4 Million To Improve Grid Congestion Management

By Amit Chowdhry ● Aug 26, 2025

Splight, an innovative grid technology company headquartered in San Francisco, has raised $12.4 million in SAFE funding, spearheaded by Blue Bear Capital and ZOMA Capital. This infusion of capital is a pivotal milestone for Splight as it accelerates its expansion across North America and Europe amid surging demand for electricity grid solutions.

The funding will enable Splight to scale deployments of its flagship product, Dynamic Congestion Management (DCM), a machine-learning platform designed to unlock additional transmission capacity without the need for new infrastructure.

With grid congestion and lengthy construction timelines hindering the delivery of renewable energy and large-scale power integration, Splight’s solution arrives at a critical moment. DCM uses real-time data and proprietary algorithms to transform fast-responding assets such as batteries and data centers into operational tools, consistently unlocking up to 100% more capacity on existing lines.

Splight’s new capital will also power the launch of advanced features, like AI-driven electrical studies for data centers and enhanced DCM algorithms to meet evolving grid needs. Their DCM Sandbox provides a virtual environment for operators to visualize the benefits of DCM, while the Real-Time Simulation tool enables direct Hardware-in-the-Loop testing.

Commercially, the funding supports a robust go-to-market strategy, including expanding Splight’s San Francisco headquarters and hiring new technical and product talent. By providing utilities and large power consumers with a targeted and reliable approach to grid congestion, Splight is poised to play a central role in accelerating clean energy deployment and ensuring a more resilient and responsive energy infrastructure for the future.

KEY QUOTES:

“Our technology solves one of the most urgent problems facing the grid today: how to deliver more electricity without waiting years for new transmission to be built. This new capital allows us to scale deployments of our flagship Dynamic Congestion Management product, unlocking the kind of transmission capacity that is urgently needed by grid participants like AI data centers and utility-scale grid resources.”

Fernando Llaver, CEO and co-founder of Splight

“From the moment we met the Splight team, we were impressed with the team’s deep operational knowledge of the grid and their machine learning expertise. That unique background and their proven track-record of global deployments provide operators of critical energy infrastructure with the confidence to deploy Splight’s cutting-edge technology across grid assets that form the backbone of our economies and societies.”
