Sprout Social, a provider of cloud-based social media management software, has acquired NewsWhip, a company specializing in AI-powered, predictive media intelligence. The deal, valued at $55 million in cash with up to $10 million in potential earnouts, is set to expand Sprout Social’s capabilities in helping brands and publishers anticipate emerging trends and breaking news.
NewsWhip’s technology monitors millions of stories and billions of engagement signals daily, enabling users to identify content gaining momentum before it goes viral. This provides a strategic advantage for clients to stay ahead of the narrative.
The acquisition closed on July 30, 2025. As part of the deal, the NewsWhip team will join Sprout Social. Paul Quigley, NewsWhip’s co-founder and CEO, will become the General Manager of Sprout’s Listening business, overseeing both NewsWhip and Sprout’s listening products.
