SpryPoint has appointed payments industry veteran Kevin Gallagher as vice president of payments. Gallagher will lead the strategy, growth and operational execution of SpryWallet, SpryPoint’s embedded payments platform for utility companies.
He brings nearly three decades of experience building and scaling payment businesses across the financial technology and software-as-a-service industries.
His appointment reflects SpryPoint’s continued investment in payments as a core part of its integrated utility software platform.
SpryWallet enables utilities to offer secure, real-time payment options within their customer service and billing experiences.
By embedding payments directly into utility software, the platform is designed to simplify transactions for customers while reducing administrative work for utility employees.
Gallagher will work directly with utilities to expand SpryWallet’s capabilities and adoption across North America.
He will also oversee efforts to make the platform a broader payments layer for utilities seeking to modernize their billing and customer engagement systems.
Gallagher most recently served as global head of payments and embedded financial services at EverCommerce.
EverCommerce operates vertical software platforms serving more than 500,000 service-based businesses.
In that role, Gallagher was responsible for expanding payment and financial service capabilities across the company’s software products.
Before joining EverCommerce, he held general manager and senior vice president positions at several payments and financial technology companies.
His previous employers include CARET, formerly known as AbacusNext, FrontStream, Transfast, Vesta Corporation, 2Checkout, CardinalCommerce, Merchant e-Solutions, Chase Paymentech and First Data.
Transfast was acquired by Mastercard in 2019.
Gallagher’s background includes experience developing embedded payments businesses within vertical software platforms.
Embedded payments allow customers to complete transactions directly inside the software they already use rather than being redirected to a separate payment service.
For utilities, this approach can integrate bill payment more closely with customer accounts, billing information and service communications.
SpryPoint believes embedded payments can improve the customer experience while helping utilities streamline reconciliation, payment processing and back-office workflows.
Gallagher currently serves on the board of directors of the TAG FinTech Steering Committee.
He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business and an MBA from Kennesaw State University.
His appointment comes as SpryPoint expands SpryWallet following the platform’s recent launch.
SpryWallet is natively integrated with SpryCIS and SpryEngage.
SpryCIS supports utility customer information and billing functions, while SpryEngage provides digital customer engagement capabilities.
The integrations are intended to connect payments with the wider meter-to-cash process, which covers activities ranging from measuring customer usage to billing, payment collection and account reconciliation.
SpryPoint’s broader platform combines customer service, billing, field operations and payments in one software environment.
The company works with utilities across the Americas to modernize customer engagement and reduce the complexity associated with managing separate technology systems.
Gallagher will focus on scaling SpryWallet as utilities seek more flexible payment options and greater operational efficiency.
