- Square CEO Jack Dorsey announced that company employees will be offered an option to permanently work from home
Square Inc (NYSE:SQ) employees have been working from home over the past couple of months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And now CEO Jack Dorsey is offering an option for employees to permanently work from home. This is a similar move that Dorsey made as the head of his other company Twitter.
“We want employees to be able to work where they feel most creative and productive,” said a Square spokesperson via Fool.com. “Moving forward, Squares will be able to work from home permanently, even once offices begin to reopen. Over the past several weeks, we’ve learned a lot about what it takes for people to effectively perform roles outside of an office, and we will continue to learn as we go.”
This new policy will apply to workers who are able to do their jobs remotely. However, security personnel, server administrators, and facilities maintenance employees will still be required to go to the office to perform their on-site requirements. And other employees will be given an option to return to their offices once it is safe.
Square and Twitter did not announce when their physical offices will be opened yet. However, the offices will be closed through September at least.
