Squire Patton Boggs Adds Reid Avett As Corporate And Capital Markets Partner

Squire Patton Boggs has added F. Reid Avett as a partner in its global Corporate Practice in Washington, D.C., strengthening the firm’s capabilities across capital markets, securities law, corporate governance and mergers and acquisitions.

Avett advises public and private companies, boards of directors and management teams on a broad range of corporate and transactional matters.

His practice includes capital markets transactions, corporate governance, securities law compliance and reporting, shareholder matters, M&A and stock exchange listing requirements.

Avett also has extensive experience representing issuers and underwriters in capital markets transactions.

His work with public companies includes counseling on disclosure requirements, securities reporting obligations and board oversight matters.

Beyond transactional matters, Avett advises companies and boards on shareholder engagement and activism, giving his practice a combination of capital markets, governance and strategic advisory experience.

Avett is also a licensed certified public accountant.

He began his career in the mergers and acquisitions group at PricewaterhouseCoopers before developing his legal practice advising companies and corporate leadership teams.

That combination gives him experience spanning financial, regulatory, in-house and private-practice perspectives on corporate matters.

Avett joins Squire Patton Boggs from another international law firm.

His arrival follows the firm’s recent appointment of Abby Brown as Americas Chair of its Global Corporate Practice.

Squire Patton Boggs’ broader Corporate Practice includes more than 400 attorneys worldwide and advises clients ranging from major multinational and Fortune 100 companies to private equity firms, financial institutions, emerging businesses, management teams and investors.

Avett earned his J.D. from Emory University School of Law.

He also holds a B.S. in Business Administration and a Master of Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
