Sriram Krishnan announced that he will leave his role as Senior Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence at the White House at the end of June, concluding an 18-month tenure during which he played a key role in shaping the administration’s AI policy agenda.
Krishnan, a former technology executive and venture capitalist who previously held leadership positions at Microsoft, Yahoo, Facebook, Snap, Twitter, and Andreessen Horowitz, said he plans to take a short break before turning his attention to addressing major artificial intelligence challenges facing the United States.
During his time in government, Krishnan helped develop the American AI Action Plan, contributed to broader national AI policy initiatives, supported AI-related partnerships, and represented U.S. interests in international AI discussions. He worked closely with White House AI and crypto advisor David Sacks on a number of the administration’s AI efforts.
Krishnan said the experience provided him with a unique perspective on the opportunities and challenges created by rapid advances in artificial intelligence. Looking ahead, he indicated that his future work will focus on helping address issues related to AI infrastructure, energy requirements, data centers, and ensuring broader access to the benefits of AI technologies.
His departure comes as governments and industry leaders continue to navigate the economic, technological, and geopolitical implications of artificial intelligence, with AI policy remaining a major strategic priority.
