Standard Solar: New York Community Solar Portfolio Expanded With 8 MW Acquisition From EDF Power Solutions

Standard Solar announced the acquisition of two community solar projects in New York from EDF power solutions North America, expanding its presence in one of the country’s most active distributed solar markets.

The acquisition includes the Water Chestnut and Hanoverian community solar projects, which together total approximately 8 MW. Water Chestnut is a 3.9 MW project located in Alfred Station in Allegany County, while Hanoverian is a 4 MW project located in West Henrietta in Monroe County. Both projects received awards from NYSERDA and are expected to reach completion in early 2027.

Once operational, the projects are expected to provide clean energy to local communities while increasing access to community solar benefits for subscribers throughout the region.

The acquisition builds on Standard Solar’s existing New York portfolio, which currently includes 82.3 MW of solar generation capacity and 5.6 MW of energy storage assets. The company said the transaction reflects its continued strategy of acquiring high-quality community solar projects across New York and the broader United States.

New York remains one of the leading solar markets in the United States, with more than 7,900 MW of installed solar capacity, enough to power over 1.3 million homes. The state ranks seventh nationally for installed solar capacity and continues to support distributed solar growth through community solar programs and renewable energy policies.

The transaction also extends a longstanding relationship between Standard Solar and EDF power solutions. Previous collaborations have included the 9.9 MW Bluebonnet project in Texas, the Laswbrook and Knox Solar + Storage projects in Massachusetts, and the acquisition of the Lehigh University solar project in Pennsylvania in 2023.

Standard Solar owns and operates more than 500 MW of solar assets nationwide and is backed by Brookfield, a major global investor in renewable power and climate transition infrastructure. EDF power solutions North America develops, builds, and operates renewable energy and transmission projects across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with a portfolio that includes 26 GW of developed projects and 17 GW under service contracts.
