Star Mountain Capital has appointed Adam Fitzner as Managing Director and Strategic Portfolio Partner, adding more than 30 years of private equity, restructuring, and operating experience to the approximately $5 billion alternative asset manager.
In his new role, Fitzner will work with Star Mountain portfolio companies on operational performance, strategic initiatives and value creation.
His responsibilities are expected to include helping management teams evaluate growth opportunities, improve business performance, strengthen capital structures and address operational challenges across the firm’s lower middle-market portfolio.
Fitzner brings extensive experience spanning investing, restructuring and hands-on company advisory work.
Across his career, he has worked with more than 60 companies, raised or invested more than $3 billion of capital and participated in restructurings involving more than $5 billion of debt.
That background gives him experience across both growth-oriented situations and more complex operating or balance sheet challenges.
Fitzner spent 14 years at Hamilton Robinson Capital Partners and Corinthian Capital Group, where he sourced, executed, and managed lower middle-market private equity investments.
His work included evaluating new investment opportunities, executing transactions, and supporting portfolio companies after acquisition.
Earlier in his career, Fitzner advised companies, lenders and sponsors on turnarounds and restructurings at Evercore, Miller Buckfire, Houlihan Lokey and Phoenix Management.
That experience included working with businesses facing financial stress, liquidity constraints, and complex capital structures.
The combination of private equity and restructuring expertise is particularly relevant to Star Mountain’s focus on lower middle-market companies, where operational support and capital structure management can play a significant role in investment outcomes.
Star Mountain manages approximately $5 billion across direct investments, secondaries, NAV lending, and fund solutions.
The firm’s platform gives it exposure to both individual operating companies and broader private market investment strategies.
Since 2010, Star Mountain has completed more than 100 direct platform investments and 50 secondary and fund investments.
Fitzner’s appointment adds another senior operating and investment executive to the platform as the firm continues to emphasize active portfolio support alongside capital deployment.
By adding Fitzner as Strategic Portfolio Partner, Star Mountain is strengthening its ability to work directly with management teams on operational improvement, strategic execution, and value creation throughout the investment lifecycle.
