Stellantis has announced an investment plan totaling $13 billion over the next four years aimed at expanding its operations in the United States. This significant investment is the largest in the company’s 100-year history in the U.S. and is set to strengthen its manufacturing capabilities while enhancing its presence in the domestic market.
This initiative will support the launch of five new vehicles across various segments and include the production of an innovative four-cylinder engine. Additionally, the plan is expected to generate over 5,000 new jobs across several key states: Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana.
As part of this investment, Stellantis aims to expand its U.S. operations considerably, targeting a 50% increase in annual finished vehicle production compared to current levels. The new product launches will complement a broader strategy that includes the refresh of 19 existing products across all U.S. assembly plants and upgrades to powertrains, all planned through 2029.
In Illinois, Stellantis plans to invest more than $600 million to reopen the Belvidere Assembly Plant. This facility will increase production for the Jeep Cherokee and Jeep Compass, specifically for the U.S. market. Initial production is anticipated to launch in 2027, creating around 3,300 new jobs for local workers.
Meanwhile, in Ohio, Stellantis will invest nearly $400 million to relocate the assembly of an all-new midsize truck to the Toledo Assembly Complex. This truck was initially designated for the Belvidere plant and will join the ranks of the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator. This transition is expected to create over 900 new jobs, with the launch planned for 2028. And the company intends to continue its investments in Toledo operations as previously announced, focusing on advanced technologies and product enhancements for the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator, as well as adding critical components for production at the Toledo Machining Plant.
In Michigan, Stellantis has plans to develop a new range-extended electric vehicle (EV) and an internal combustion engine large SUV, which will be produced at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant starting in 2028. Close to $100 million will be allocated for retooling the facility, with projections indicating the creation of more than 900 jobs at this location. The Warren plant currently manufactures the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. Additionally, the company is set to invest $130 million to prepare the Detroit Assembly Complex—Jefferson for the production of the next-generation Dodge Durango. This production is anticipated to commence in 2029.
In Indiana, Stellantis is reaffirming its January announcement to invest in its Kokomo facilities for the production of an all-new four-cylinder engine, known as the GMET4 EVO. The planned investment will exceed $100 million and result in more than 100 new jobs, solidifying the U.S. as the manufacturing hub for this vital powertrain.
Currently, Stellantis’ U.S. footprint comprises 34 manufacturing facilities, parts distribution centers, and research and development sites across 14 states. These operations collectively support more than 48,000 employees and work with approximately 2,600 dealers and nearly 2,300 suppliers in communities throughout the country.
This latest investment announcement builds upon actions previously disclosed in January 2025, highlighting Stellantis’ commitment to growth and innovation in the U.S. automotive market.
